About Love Tech
My name is Jeff Maudsley and Love Tech is my business. I'm originally from Bellingham and love living here.
I gained a firm base in computers and networking when I enlisted in the Washington Air National Guard. Military training is some of the finest available, and mine led to years of managing computers and networks in corporate environments. I took small networks and grew them into larger, more reliable, secure and modern ones that helped power productivity instead of getting in the way of workers.
But that is just corporate computer talk. I love working on computers, and in particular I love helping the people who use them. My priority is always making sure you have the tools you need to get your work done.
For home users, I am most concerned with respecting your budget and saving you as much money as possible, keeping good backups, and keeping you and your children safe and secure on the Internet.
"I'll admit, some of my devices are just toys, but most are useful and used."
My interest in technology goes beyond work. I have Macs and PCs, smartphones, tablets, and the list goes on. I dabble a lot, try new technologies, and find out their strengths and weaknesses so you don't have to.
Away from computers, I'm an avid traveler. I mountain bike, downhill ski, and dream of being a professional photographer.
My tech history
At $99.95 I knew it was revolutionary, but for me it was only a dream.
I was 17, in high school, and stored everything on 5¼″ floppy disks. In the end it was a glorified typewriter, but it was mine.
The C64 took up half my dorm desk, so I moved to the Macintosh labs with a trusty case of 3½″ floppies. I became an expert Mac and PC user through school and work.
When my new work PC arrived without a mouse, I learned to do almost everything in Windows 3.1 from the keyboard. I still use those skills whenever I meet a computer with input problems.
Challenging training that led to my first job managing a small network and building it into a larger, more dynamic one.
After several companies and a non-profit, I help individuals and small offices keep their technology working great.
Services
Love Tech offers three core services, plus help with networks, domains and the everyday problems that slow you down.
"Does my computer have the flu?"
Even the best tech eventually needs repairs and upgrades. Whatever the cause, Love Tech is eager to fix what ails your technology.
Common for nearly all technology over time, from installing too many programs, apps or utilities, or just years of steady use.
Desktop and laptop parts wear out or break. We diagnose the problem and swap in working components.
If your computer used to be much faster, software is usually why. We remove unneeded programs, clear out spyware, viruses and malware, and bring everything up to date.
When something breaks and you need it fixed now, we jump. We'll work through the night to get you back online.
"My computer used to be faster."
Rejuvenation is one of the things we're most excited to help with, and probably the one you know least about. That's okay, we love this stuff.
Your old computer really can be made like new. That usually means a mix of hardware and software upgrades, and sometimes simply turning back the clock. It can also come from a new or different program, a new device, or a feature you didn't know you had.
Once we're done, you'll be ready to love your tech all over again.
"I want to learn to use my programs better!"
Training is the best way to fall in love with your new technology. Lessons can be one-on-one or for a group.
You've got something new and need help learning to use it. We've used a ton of technology, and if yours is new to us, we'll figure it out and then teach you.
You use a device or computer a lot and want to learn more: phone and tablet apps, getting started with a digital camera and sharing photos, Chrome extensions, or advanced features in Word, Excel and Microsoft Office.
You have a project to finish and a program you're pretty sure can do it, if only someone else were driving. We'll help you get it done.
Our regular hourly rate applies.
Tell me what's going on and I'll point you the right way.
